#247 - I Just Can't Stop Myself

Song - I Just Can't Stop Myself
Artist - Sophie Madeleine
Chord source - http://ukulelehunt.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/StopMyself.pdf

I really can't get enough of Sophie Madelein, she is just amazing. This is probably the easiest song of hers to learn on uke, usually there are some pretty insane chords in there but this one is relatively tame in comparison to something like "The Rhythm You Started."
Up until the last verse, this is pretty much what songwriting feels like to me. Sometimes I think maybe I'm too darn happy to write anything meaningful! Who wants to hear another song about great my husband is or that I have great friends? I feel like that will get old real quick! Poor me, I don't have anything sad to write about haha!

#246 - The Happy Song

Song - The Happy Song
Artist - Kate Micucci

More Kate Micucci! Maybe I would have liked scrubs if I would have seen episodes with her in them!

#245 - Just Say When

Song - Just Say When
Artist - Kate Micucci (say her last name out loud and then giggle)
Chord source - http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/k/kate_micucci/just_say_when_crd.htm
Loving Kate Micucci's solo stuff! For those of you who don't know, she is one half of the band Garfunkle and Oats (http://www.garfunkelandoates.com/), and they are hilarious!! They recently played at a live recording of The Savage Love cast, it was pretty much all of my favorite things in one place. Check them out and take a peek at her solo work too!

#239 - The Sunny Side of the Street

Song - The Sunny side of the Street
Artist - Jimmy McHugh and lyrics by Dorothy Fields
Chord Source - http://www.heartwoodguitar.com/chords/dan-zanes-on-the-sunny-side-of-the-street/ (I changed the bridge from a G to a G7 and the C to an Em)
I had a great day with my dad hanging out and looking around for a new guitar for him. Nothing is quite like getting a new instrument, even if it is for someone else. After a day of mulling over whether or not to get a new concert guitar, he went back across down and bought one before heading back to the coast. While we were trying out instruments, he pulled out this song and it's been stuck in my head all day. Thanks pop!

#236 - Hey There Delilah

Song - Hey There Delilah
Artist - Plain White T's

#235 - I Want You

Song - I Want You

Big thanks to Erin for suggesting this one! I'm so happy to be back playing again!

#201 - Forevermore

Song - Forevermore
Artist - Kaite Herzig

My friend Andrea just posted this song on facebook and I thought it was adorable! My brother played in basketball when I was a kid and we would often go to day long tournaments and watch him. To keep me entertained my mom would play handslap games with me and this is one we got really good at!

#190 - Ain't She Sweet

Song - Ain't She Sweet
Artist - Milton Ager

I graduated from college yesterday, more like I just finished up with my classes. No diploma till June and I won't be walking in the ceremony and that's not till June either. I was kind of bummed about the way the anticlimactic way my college career ended, but hey I finished something I started and really is something to be proud of!

As a graduation gift my sweet fiance got me this new ukulele which I absolutely love. He has been so supportive and wonderful throughout our relationship, but definitely since I have been in school. He was always there to listen when I was a crank about a teacher or a project that was due. He would remind me why I started when things got hard and would cheer me on when I did well. He is a tremendous partner and I am so lucky to have him.

But onto the uke! I have been on the look out for an upgrade on my soprano uke, as the little Mahalo is great but leaves something to be desired on tone. This thing is amazing. It's a Kala pacific walnut body and super light with just the best ring to it. I know I have done this song before, but I just really wanted to showcase the sound on the uke, as I think it is just divine!
